Days to Go
There is no such thing as an un-wounded soldier ! As a member of Australia's armed forces you do not have to have been involved in direct combat situations to suffer with PTSD. PTSD has claimed more service personnel lives than any conflict or campaign Australia has been involved in since 1999. The road to recovery for a PTSD sufferer is long and costly. Please make a donation and help our service personnel and their family's return to happy productive lives. Our service personnel enlist today knowing full well that they will be deployed into troubled and conflicted countries overseas, putting themselves at risk. Yet they still enlist !
I will be trekking from Lukla in Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp (Gorekshep) a total return trip of 106 Kilometres over a 14 day period. Days 4 and 7 are acclimatisation days where we will be resting at altitude. Trekking up to an altitude of 17,598 Feet there is up to 40% less oxygen available and altitude sickness may pose a threat without acclimatization stops. During the month of November the temperature typically may get down to -17C as this is the winter period, however this offers the clearest and best views of the Himalayas. During the trek I will be posting videos and pictures so you can follow my progress.
Maybe its time to give something back !
